You’ve heard it said #3

This one is appropriate after tonight.

You’ve heard it said, “You are called to the ministry, you are called to do great and mighty things, you are called to blessings, you are called to succeed and have success and have “favor” with God in this world.”

But, Peter says, “we are called to suffering, grief, and to suffer wrongfully with a cheerful and happy heart.”

1 Peter 2:19-21

You’ve heard it said, “now you are saved, so go read your bible and learn all that you can; try to do everything you read, and obey it.”

But, Jesus says to the Jews (God’s own ‘special’ people) “You search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life, but these only testify of Me.”
In another place Paul says, “The letter of the Law kills, but the Spirit gives life…. in the reading of the Old Testament a veil remains, nevertheless, when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.”
John the Apostle also says, “You have no need that any man teach you, but you have an anointing/unction of the Holy Spirit of Truth who will teach you ALL things.”

You’ve heard it said, “Read the Bible, it is The Word/LOGOS of God.” But, I ask you, “Where does it say that in the Scriptures? Who taught you that? And, do you really know what you are saying when you make that assumption?

You’ve heard it said, “Confess Jesus as Lord and you will go to heaven.”

But doesn’t Jesus say,”Not all who say to me Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven, only those that do the will of my Father. To many I will say, ‘I never knew you. Depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness.”

You’ve heard it said, “Pray this prayer with me and you shall be saved.”

But Paul our Apostle says, “We are being saved” and in another place ” Work out your salvation with fear and trembling” and also the writer of Hebrews says ‘if’, “…we have become partakers of Christ ‘if’ we hold our confidence of faith steadfast/firm to the end.

Also in Luke 4:22-30 Jesus speaks of many widows and lepers who were in Israel but only two were healed.
